The Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC) is the owner and operator of the downtown Detroit People Mover (DPM) system, an elevated, automated light rail transit system in downtown Detroit.

TRANSIT OFFICER

The Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC), owner and operator of the Downtown People Mover (DPM), is seeking qualified Transit Officers for our Field Operations Division.

As an armed officer, this position is responsible for patrolling and securing the 13 DPM stations, property and facilities, to include Rosa Parks Transit Center and provided security on DDOT Coaches, preparation of daily written reports; collection of fare and ridership data; preliminary investigations in connection with complaints and suspected criminal activities in and on the DPM System and DDOT bus routes; provide crowd control activities during special events and customer service to our passengers and community policing.

Minimum Requirements: Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, law enforcement or related field, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Service in U.S. Armed Forces and/or fully-certified police / peace officer is desirable. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing, submit to a satisfactory background check, which would include no felony convictions or history of domestic violence, must qualify for a CCW permit and be eligible to carry a firearm, and be a minimum age of 21. Shift work is required which includes holidays and weekends.

ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN- I

Responsible for performing the maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical systems on light rail transit vehicles; as required to maintain the safety, reliability and efficiency of the Detroit People Mover System.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires advanced vocational/technical training (minimum two year Technical school diploma) in electronic theory and principles (preferably in Power electronics, propulsion & controls, SCADA, signaling and communication). Minimum of two years experience troubleshooting and maintaining electronic equipment and components. This person should be a self-starter and be able to work with the system maintenance manuals to isolate and diagnose equipment failures under tight time constraints.

 

This person will also be required to qualify and occasionally drive the trains in manual mode. Additionally this person may be called upon and be able to walk the guideway to retrieve crippled trains and assist passengers. Military electronic technician or veterans are encouraged to apply.

 

Willingness to work 24/7 work day shift necessary.

MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN- I

Responsible for performing installation, fabrication, maintenance and on-line troubleshooting and repair of a variety of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and components of light rail transit vehicles.  

 

Familiarity with rail transit vehicle sub systems and building mechanical systems (HVAC, boilers, elevators, escalators etc) would be necessary. Additional responsibilities may involve track maintenance and repairs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Requires advanced vocational/technical training (minimum two year Technical school diploma) in theory, operations and maintenance of mechanical systems for heavy transportation vehicles preferably rail transit.  Minimum of two-year experience in the maintenance and repair of large electro-mechanical systems and components.  

 

This person should be a self-starter and be able to work with the system maintenance manuals to isolate and diagnose equipment failures under tight time constraints. This person will also be required to qualify and occasionally drive the trains in manual mode. Additionally this person may be called upon and be able to walk the guideway to retrieve crippled trains and assist passengers.
