Detroit People Mover Brings Back Thanksgiving Free Fare Day
Sprint is connecting Motown with free rides on Thanksgiving Day
DETROIT, Mich. (11/18/2016) – For the third consecutive year, executed by PTN-NRS Sponsorships/Naming Rights, Thanksgiving Day transportation around Downtown Detroit will be fast, fun and free on the Detroit People Mover (DPM). Free Fare Day is being brought to patrons courtesy of the Sprint LTE Plus Network.
On Thursday, November 24, the People Mover is operating on holiday schedule from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Riders may enter any of the 13 People Mover stations. The closest DPM stations for the Thanksgiving Day Parade are Grand Circus Park, Broadway and Cadillac.
“We’re excited to have a new partner in Sprint on this special day so that area families can come together to enjoy downtown events,” said DPM General Manager Barbara Hansen.
Also on Thursday, the People Mover has coordinated with the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) for bus riders to have an easy transfer to the Eastside routes affected by parade traffic. Affected routes include #7 Cadillac-Harper, #10 Chene, #31 Mack, #34 Gratiot and #48 Van Dyke. DDOT customers should board these routes at Bricktown Station, located on Beaubien St., north of Larned (DDOT transfer or fare required). Eastside routes will begin service to the Rosa Parks Transit Center at 6:00 p.m.
People Mover service will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25. Thanksgiving Free Fare Day is brought to you by Sprint.
