Detroit People Mover’s Grand Circus Park Station
Closing for Station Improvements
Renovations to take place for approximately five weeks
DETROIT, Mich. (2/22/2017) – Beginning Monday, February 27, the Detroit Transportation Corporation will close the Detroit People Mover’s Grand Circus Park station as part of the second phase of renovations to the station. The closure is scheduled through April 3, 2017.
Now focusing on improvements to the exterior of the station, the emergency stairwell will be demolished and reconstructed. Emergency exit access is required at every People Mover station. Additionally, replacement of the platform roof and painting will also take place during this time.
People Mover trains will bypass Grand Circus Park station. Patrons traveling within the west/Foxtown portion of the Central Business District have the option of using the two People Mover stations – Times Square or Broadway – during construction. Times Square is nearest to the Rosa Parks Transit Center. Broadway Station is closest to the Fox Theatre, Comerica Park and Ford Field, and also is steps away from the Detroit Opera House. Elevator and escalator accessibility is available at both stations.
Grand Circus Park’s emergency stairwell was original; the main station adjacent to the Aloft Hotel and the David Whitney Building was new construction and reopened in 2015.
