DETROIT PEOPLE MOVER MONTHLY PASS CHANGES PRICE
The famous Downtown ride is now more affordable than ever!
(DETROIT – 05/26/10) – In these days of high gas prices, supermarket bill phobia and shrinking pay checks, isn’t it nice to know that the price of at least one thing is going down?
The Detroit People Mover (DPM), owned and operated since 1987 by the Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC), announced that the price of monthly and annual FastPasses has been cut in half. Monthly passes that were formerly $20.00 are now just $10.00, and annual passes that were $200.00 are now just $100.00.
“It is DTC’s desire to make The People Mover more convenient and economical for our riders,” said DTC General Manager Barbara Hansen. “As people struggle to make ends meet, it was a natural idea to lower the price of FastPasses. They’ve been sold for the original prices since we opened in 1987. What a unique concept to lower our prices during these difficult times!”
The individual token price will remain at 75¢ per ride, added Hansen. People who buy tokens daily and ride at least five days per week, roundtrip for $1.00’s worth of tokens, will now save at least $10.00 per month on a monthly pass and as much as $160.00 per year on an annual pass. Of course, rides are unlimited every day with a FastPass!
Passes can be purchased online 24/7 at www.thepeoplemover.com, by telephone at (313) 224-2160 or in person at the administrative offices at 1420 Washington Blvd., 3rd Floor, both during regular business hours.
Twelve of the thirteen DPM stations are fully handicap-accessible; the Grand Circus Park Station is stairway-accessible only. Patrons requiring elevators or escalators in that area may board or exit at either the Broadway or Times Square stations. Children ages 5 and under always ride free.
