Public Comment / Information Meetings scheduled for May 10 and 11


DETROIT – The Detroit People Mover (DPM) is scheduling a two week closure in mid-June to replace a rail switch and special section of track along on the guideway.

Essential to maintaining the system in a state of good repair, construction will begin after the People Mover shuts down Sunday, June 12 through Sunday, June 26.  The system will resume its normal operating schedule at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27.


The Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC) is holding two meetings in May to provide information about the project and to allow for public comments:

Requests for interpretive, special accommodations at the hearings for the hearing impaired and others with special needs must be made 48 hours in advance of the public hearing meeting dates at (313) 224-2160.  Please call 7-1-1 for the hearing impaired.

A standard activity among rail systems, rail replacement is necessary as a result of accumulated wear on the track. The Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC) has performed this project once prior in 2008, when 2,800 feet of track was replaced along six curves.
