Thanksgiving Transit – Bus Route Schedules

Once you’ve had a great time taking free People Mover rides around downtown Detroit, area public transportation has made it easy for you to connect to transit, get back home, go shopping and beyond.

DDOT will be operating on a Sunday schedule, and has several re-routes for both the Turkey Trot and Thanksgiving Day Parade. (Click image to enlarge)

As a result of street closures for the Thanksgiving Day events, DDOT customers can expect delays beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26th. Eastside bus routes will lay over at the Detroit People Mover’s Bricktown Station on Beaubien north of Larned. Bus passengers are encouraged to ride the DPM at no charge on Thanksgiving Day to continue their travels. Eastside bus routes will resume regular service to the Rosa Parks Transit Center after 6 p.m.

The following routes will be affected due to the Turkey Trot which takes place from 7:00am-

8:30am. These routes will come in and out of town by Michigan via Trumbull:

#19 Fort

#27 Joy

#29 Linwood

The following routes will be affected due to the Thanksgiving Day Parade:

#7 Cadillac-Harper

#10 Chene

#25 Jefferson

#31 Mack

#34 Gratiot

#48 Van Dyke

Bus passengers that need to get to the eastside routes from the Rosa Parks Transit Center

may ride The People Mover to the Bricktown Station.

DDOT’s Administrative Offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday,

November 27th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Below is the Thanksgiving Holiday schedule and closures:

Thanksgiving Day, November 26

  • Fixed Routes will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • The following services will not operate:
    • Connector
      • By 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, be sure to book/confirm your Connector trip for Friday, November 27
    • Somerset Shuttle
    • Oakland Mall Shuttle
    • Farmington/Farmington Hills Dial-A-Ride
    • Groesbeck Flex Route Service
  • Prearranged ADA trips are based off a Sunday Fixed Route schedule
  • Customer Service – Closed
  • Downtown and Royal Oak Transit Centers – Closed

Friday, November 27

  • Downtown and Royal Oak Transit Centers – Closed
  • Fixed Route Customer Service will open at 6:30 a.m.
  • Connector Customer Service will open at 7:00 a.m.

Saturday, November 28

  • Royal Oak Transit Center will open at 9:00 a.m.
