Your Detroit Story
“Tell us a little about who you are and what first inspired you to invest your energy in Detroit’s community.”
I work in the Mayor’s Office on economic development—helping build developments and grow Detroit’s economy. I do this because I love this city, I love the people in it, and I believe we can work together to make a bright future.
Transportation in Downtown: Then & Now
“In your experience, how has transportation in Downtown Detroit evolved over the years, and what role do you see the People Mover playing in that change?”
I’m excited about the future of transit and transportation in downtown Detroit. The People Mover has been “holding it down” since the 1980s, and it should stay at the heart of how we knit together more mobility options and connectivity—ultimately building an excellent transit system for the city.
Favorite Spot Along the People Mover
“Which station or nearby spot along the People Mover route do you love most, and what makes it special to you?”
Cadillac Center Station—because of the tile and the art. But my favorite experience on the alignment is the river section that wraps the southern edge from Huntington Place. That high vantage point over the river is one of the best views in Detroit.
Hopes & Dreams for Detroit
“When you think about Detroit’s future, what’s one message or aspiration you’d share with the community?”
Detroit is the greatest city in America…and we’re just getting started. The energy Detroiters bring and the pride we have in our city are second to none
Fun Finale: Ride with Anyone
“If you could ride the Detroit People Mover with anyone—past or present—who would it be, and why?”
Mayor Coleman A. Young…no question! I’d want to hear every story about getting the People Mover built, how it got done, and his thoughts on where it stands today.
